We invite you to review several actual digital reading lessons organized by Reading Skills. The student workbooks are named for the dominant reading skill taught in each book as follows:
Book 1, Letter Names and Sounds: The starting point for ESL and EL students if they have not attended a kindergarten class taught in English.
Book 2, Long Vowels: This course focuses on reading words, phrases, and sentences containing long vowel words. Examples are kite, cute, paint, cone, bike, and cake.
Book 3, Short Vowels: This course focuses on reading words, phrases, and sentences containing short vowel words. Examples are kit, cut, can, bit, mat, top, and sun.
Book 4, Long and Short Vowels: This course focuses on reading words, phrases, and sentences with a mixture of both long and short vowel words in the phrase or sentence.
Book 5, Digraphs and Blends: Digraphs are two consonant letters that create a new sound. Examples are sheep, fish, chick, phone, and thorn, wheel, and queen. Blends are two consonants that create a blend of their respective sounds. Examples are blanket, clock, prize, scale, skate, smile, and flag.
